happy mardi gras !!!

glitter.

this cadet was thirsty

This year, I decided I wanted to be in the mardi gras rather than stading on the side lines taking photos and being stampeded by the crowds- I was the one being photographed for being with a buch of dancing space cadets! And good thing I did. It was out of this world quite literally as i was dressed as a space woman with a disco ball helmet that I got to keep! The silver polyester suit was extremeley hot but everyone wanted a go with the helmet. We danced our way to "Starlight" by Super lovers for about 2.5 kms, the crowd went wild when we did a little spin and swayed our glittered butts there way. Had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction whilst dancing .. lost a space boot!

There were bright colours and feather boas, and plenty of the sling back holsters with the butt cut out. Boys but on their favourite platform heels and it was such a mixed bag of people.
Unfirtunately, I had nowhere to put my camera ( i was wearing a spandex leotard and space boots!) so most photos are from the Carnivale after party . The pics dont do their fantastic outfits justice.. amazing.
Hope everyone got out of the closet and enjoyed the drags and dress ups!!

radiant pearls ...

No radiant pearl which crested Fortune wears,
No gem that twinkling hangs from Beauty's ears, Not the bright stars which Night's blue arch adorn, Nor rising suns that gild the vernal morn, Shine with such lustre as the tear that flows Down Virtue's manly cheek for others' woes.
~Erasmus Darwin. 1731-1802. Part ii. Canto iii. Line 459.

Abbey lee makes me want to put a hole in my nose.
Catherine makes me squint and pout.
Gemma makes me want to collect porcelain dolls
And tullalah makes me wanna be a mermaid.

For Lee Alexander Mcqueen 1969-2010

Though I've never been blessed to own something to your name, I am inspired by you. You stood before us as influential designer, orginator, artist if you must and you devoured the world with your distinictive and stylish elegance that was nothing but Mcqueen. I will be among millions who is truly saddened of the loss of such a creative soul. The world has suffered a tragic loss and together we will mourn. Respectfully yours, One of your many admirers.

diy quickie - chain me up

READ FROM BOTTOM TO TOP

Another diy you could do. These are dome studs I got on ebay - theres a million things you could do with these babies - but bear in mind to have pliers handy or else your fingernails look like they belong to a hobo after your done. ... or as much as you like. Voila. Much more interesting. Sew on as little... Start sewing the chains on, go through the loops twice to make sure it doesn't come loose in the washing. You'll need some thread, needle and chains (gold looks best).

Start with boring lace bustier . It was inititially boned, but I took them out because they were making the bustier a bit ill fitting.

Cara mia, ti voglio bene

I love oysters - theoretically a natural aphrodisicac. Perfect for Valentines day? you tell me. haha

I think we've all missed the deeper meaning of this day, its not all about greeting cards, chocolate and being romantic with your other halves - this is just one form of showing love. Love is mutifaceted. Love has the power to change, heal and motivate the lives of everyone it comes in contact with. So go love it up.

This is my 5th valentines day with Christofer
. We spent the day doing what we do every weekend - which is eat. Sydney Fishmarket was our 1st stop , we've both talked about going together but for some reason we just never got around to it - well worth the 45 minutes searching for a car space - the food was on our plates from the ocean within the hour.

It was a rainy, but humid day so I threw on my fave $3 shorts, plunge back leotard, vintage wide brim bowler style hat and a pair of pixie boots i recently won on ebay and off we went. We also went to the Dymocks Bookstore so I could grab an intalian phrase book for my trip to Milan in july.. as my italian is limited to about 2 words - now a little more as you can see on my blog title . It reads, "My darlingm I love you".

shhhh xxx - xxx a little more x for today. =)
